Stoner NY is an independent guide to New York City for people who got tired of every stoner NYC list being written like a tourist brochure. It's about the train, the bagels and the block, and it has strong feelings about all three.
Who's behind it
Stoner NY is an independent publication, and no shop, brand or restaurant owns any of it. We don't put bylines on the guides, because the guide is the point and nobody needs a headshot. What we do put on them is the work: we check rules against the state and city, and we check named places against their own sites and recent reporting.
Why this exists
New York is the best city in the world to be a little baked in, and the worst-documented one for it. The tourist lists are about Times Square. The cannabis sites are about selling you something. Nobody was writing down the stuff locals pass around: which theater still runs film, which halal cart is worth the walk, what the rules actually say about your fire escape, and which neighborhood is best when all you want is a long walk and a good sandwich.
So we wrote it down. The NYC munchies guide, the late-night guide, movie theaters, things to do high, where you can sesh, the small apartment survival guide, the city by season and the borough and neighborhood guides.
How we write it
Everything here is evergreen on purpose. No event listings, no "this weekend," no deals with expiration dates. If a place is in a guide, it's because it's a long-running New York spot we'd send a friend to. If we're not sure something is still around, we describe the kind of place instead of naming it. We don't make up prices, hours, menus or reviews, and we don't call any business cannabis-friendly unless it says so itself.
We don't list or rank dispensaries. That's a different kind of site. We write about the legal side in plain English, with the honest caveat that we're not lawyers and rules change.
Editorial standards
No paid placements. No affiliate links. No sponsored posts. No ties to any shop, brand, restaurant or business. Nobody can pay to get into this guide, and nobody can pay to get out of it. The site sells nothing and runs no ads. The only thing it collects is an email address, if you choose to join the list. If that ever changes, it'll say so on this page in plain words.
We run one email list, which you can leave whenever you want, and no contact form or social accounts. Not mysterious, just quiet.
The house rules
This is for adults 21 and over. Be cool to your neighbors. Be cooler to your bodega guy. Never drive high. And tip the delivery person like it's snowing, because in this city it probably is.
